The sweat and hard work of SVSBians during the 3 day Boom Bazaar which was organised from April 2nd to 4th, was paid off with a total fund collection amounting BND$1,228.60

The donation cheque was handed over to SMARTER Brunei on May 4, 2011 by Acting Director of Technical Department, Mr. Dennis Ho Mun Tai. Witnessing the event were Deputy Director of Technical Department, Awg Hj Abullah bin Ahmad, Principal of SVSB, Awg Akandi bin Hj Abd Razak and other officers, instructors and selected students of SVSB.

Receiving for SMARTER was the President of SMARTER himself, Malai Hj Abdullah bin Malai Hj Osman. Besides financial donation, others items that were donated by staff especially for SMARTER were also given.

We close this post with an excerpt taken from the President's welcoming speech during the SMARTER's Musical Charity Gala Night on May 1, for us all to ponder upon.

'"To everyone please believe in their abilities as Henry Ford said "if you think you can, you are right, if you think you can't you are right".  The word IMPOSSIBLE actually is I.M.POSSIBLE. We, the parent and family of our sons and daughters with Autism have a dream that they will live life to the full with dignity. "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them". Walt Disney "

Parent-Teacher Meeting

On 14th and 16th April 2011, a Parent-Teacher Meeting Session was carried out at SVSB. The objective of the P-T Meeting is to encourage cooperation between parents and teachers in monitoring students academic progress as well as to give clear pictures to parents on school policy, rules and regulations. It is hope that from the meeting, instructors and parents are able to discuss and give feedback as to how both sides can work together to further improve the progress of the students.

The session went very well and we are glad to meet up with many supportive parents. Let us work together for the success of your children, our students and nation's future leaders.

Hoorey, Hoorey for a successful Boom Bazaar!

It was indeed an extremely hectic week for SVSBians even days before the SVSB Boom Bazaar. The working committee worked super hard to get everything ready before the launching which was on April 2, 2011 at OGDC, Seria.

Talk about trying to bring in plenty of amusements to cater different walk of life is definitely not an easy task. Looking back, we have successfully run events among which are fashion show, live band, dance and singing performance, motor show, car show, Nerf games, drawing and colouring competition, yo-yo and martial art performance besides variety of interesting vendors.

A big event such as this need full commitment and dedication from all students and staff, after which we finally able to pull everything through and in the end everyone deserves a big pat on the back.

Happy to say that we reached our goals to give a taste of being entrepreneur to our students and collecting fund for SMARTER Brunei. All in all, we estimated more than 2000 people had visited our bazaar. That's something to grin about.
